I wanted to post something profound and inspirational to send you off to sleep with tonight, but I've literally got nothin'.

So, here's to you- the tired masses. May your dreams be sweet, may your whisky be neat, and may all your dirty desires come to be.

My prayer over my progeny at night has evolved over the last 3 decades. The first part was from the Pert Em Hru a.k.a. Book of Coming Forth By Day/"book of the dead." A few years ago, I read a library book of letters written in Ta Mera/"ancient Egypt" and so added the ancient salutations and have been using them for my written communication. Just a few months ago now, after reading the biography of Geronimo written by his grandson, have added the motivational "influence" recognition...plus my metaphysical ideation. I hope they sleep well every night and build better things and ways every tomorrow.

Day and Night

“I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”

At night while sleeping, we are completely checked out from the outside world. Our bodies and brains finally find rest and refreshment after a full day's activities. We have ceased from "doing." And in this place God continues to watch over us, speak to us, love on us, and guide us.

Find comfort today in the truth that God never ceases to keep his eye on you, all day and all night. While you're intentionally focused on him or sleeping. While you're actively producing something or resting from doing anything. You can rest assured that the earth continues to turn without your help. You have no reason to be shaken. God's got it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for watching over me even in the night. I can truly rest in your peace knowing that you are always by my side.

If you need wisdom, you can ask God for it, assured that he'll show you the way ahead. Do you need God's guidance on something right now? He wants to give you wise counsel and show you the way to go. You don't have to stumble around in darkness. You can trust him.

Consider the words of the hymn "Be Thou My Vision": "Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light."

Know tonight that as you rest, God is your light, and he wants to speak to you. Choose to trust him and rest firmly in his loving arms tonight, knowing that he doesn't ever let you go.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, as I fall asleep tonight, I set my heart on you. I ask that you speak to me in my sleep and show me the way ahead. I trust that you want to speak to me.

Went to homecoming! insane! It was actually pretty boring until the last half hour when the mosh pit was smaller. had a mental breakdown about makeup before the dance lol. never thought i’d watch a bunch of senior boys jumping hysterically in the mosh pit while screaming ‘CALIFORNIA GURLS WERE UNFORGETTABLE’… beautiful

I'm working at a summer camp!! There's a bad storm going on!! Five years ago while I was working here, there was a terrible storm that tore up camp and made it so we had to immediately shut down and couldn't open the next year either!! Storms here are the scariest events ever because sometimes people you love live on the other side of the lake and no one carries phones here (most communication happens by radio because service is spotty) so you can't make sure they're doing okay!! So there's a storm raging on, we all just got woken up at 2am!! to go to the dining hall but now we're back in our cabins because, allegedly, the worst has passed, but it's still going on pretty badly and I can't check on people because texts aren't going through but Tumblr is still posting :)

I might not be particularly good at drawing but I can make the sign at work look nice and I might not be particularly good at playing piano but I can stumble through sheet music and I might not be particularly good at sewing but I can mend my clothes here and there with wobbly stitches and I might not be particularly good at baking but I can follow a recipe and my roommates will eat whatever it turns out to be and I’m thankful for everything I know just a little about and all the skills I’m barely qualified to possess and all the things I’ll attempt in the future that I’ll never be particularly good at but nevertheless manage to do
